Three Ways to Make a Glow-in-the-Dark Sensory Bottle

When I set out to create some glow-in-the-dark sensory bottles, I had no idea it would be so hard! This has been the most challenging set of sensory bottles I have made so far. It was filled with expectation and frustration over and over, to the point that I almost gave up. Then I decided that even though things weren’t going the way I wanted them to, it didn’t mean that I couldn’t write about it. The bottles still turned out pretty cool, and they DO glow in the dark!

Jack-O-Lantern Glow-in-the-Dark Sensory Bottle

Additive: Glow-in-the-dark gel
Pros: The gel does not cloud the bottle, so it’s easy to see the jack-o-lanterns.
Cons: This bottle does not glow as brightly as the others and it takes some vigorous shaking to re-disperse the ingredients once settled.

Bats and Stars Glowing Sensory Bottle

Additive: Glow-in-the-dark glitter
Pros: This is the easiest of the three glowing bottles to make. The glitter glows brightly for upwards of an hour.
Cons: The glitter can be a little clumpy (usually this can be resolved with dish soap).

Creepy Spiders Glow-in-the-Dark Sensory Bottle

Additive: Glow-in-the-dark glue
Pros: This glows brightly for over an hour and the glowing particles suspend for a long time.
Cons: This bottle is a bit harder to make. The liquid ends up being opaque, which may not be desirable in some applications.

Overall, I liked using the glow-in-the-dark glitter the most. It is the easiest to use and glows brightly for a long time. However, the opacity of the sensory bottle with the glow-in-the-dark glue is a neat effect that could look really cool depending on what else is in the bottle (I think it worked really well with the spiders and webs). The glow-in-the-dark gel was my least favorite, but maybe just because I struggled with creating that sensory bottle the most. It may glow more brightly if more gel is added, but honestly, I don’t even want to think about re-making that bottle again to find out!

Thank you for checking out my Glow-in-the-Dark Sensory Bottles!
