I have always loved looking at the stars. When I was growing up, my dad had a telescope. I remember him setting it up in our front yard and we would look at the moon and stars and planets. He taught me some of the constellations.
Every summer we would go camping, and one of my favorite things to do was look up at the night sky while sitting next to the camp fire. As someone who has always lived in the city, it is extra special to get out into the wilderness where the light pollution does not get in the way.
Once, while staying at my cousin’s house I awoke in the middle of night and when I looked out the window I saw the most spectacular meteor shower. I stayed up for a long time, just watching the lights streak across the sky. What is it about the stars and the night sky that is so captivating?
I wanted to try to capture it and put it in a bottle, as I do with many things that interest me. I have made rain in a bottle and snow in a bottle, flowers in a bottle and fairies in a bottle. Why not the night sky?
This sensory bottle is pretty easy to make… some water, black glitter, iridescent glitter, sliver stars, and glue! It’s hard to tell from the photos and videos, but this Sparkling Galaxy Sensory Bottle is very sparkly. The iridescent glitter is the key, because it creates sparkles in a rainbow of colors, and the colors really pop against the black glitter.
The stars swirl and gently fall to the bottom of the bottle while the glitter suspends for about five minutes, sparkling its way down.

And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
