Holy Night Sensory Bottle

I wonder what it would have been like to be there when Jesus was born. To hear the cry of a baby outside in the cold, dark night. What would His cry sound like? Would people hear it and come, drawn by curiosity, or maybe drawn by something more? Would anyone know upon seeing Him that He was special? Would I have known if I were there?

Maybe nobody noticed. Maybe everything was quiet and still. I can imagine being a shepherd, lying in the grass, staring up at the peaceful night sky. What would it have been like to suddenly see an angel with the glory of God shining all around? Then to learn that the long-awaited Savior had been born, and to see the sky filled with angels praising God. What a night!

That is the image I had in my mind when I created my Holy Night Sensory Bottle. The night sky filled with stars and angels. Of course, I could never recreate that scene, let alone shove it in a bottle, but this sensory bottle is a beautiful reminder of that special night so long ago, when the Savior of the world was born.

I used tiny silver star glitter, gold angel confetti, and gold fine glitter in a mixture of water and corn syrup that allows the contents to suspend for a long time. This is one of my absolute favorite sensory bottles. It really sparkles with my sensory bottle light (see how I made it here) and I am looking forward to using it as Christmas decor in my home this year.

“In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.'”

    1. Hi Katie! I don’t know what stores are close to you, but I get a lot of my glitter and confetti from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and Party City. Perhaps you could call one that is nearby and ask if they have stock?
