*** Thousands of infants and children have ended up in the hospital after ingesting water beads and many retailers are no longer selling them. I have removed my water bead product links out of an abundance of caution. ***
I had the idea for this jar quite a while back and I’m glad I finally made it! The glow-in-the dark stars remind me so much of my childhood. As a kid, I loved all things that glowed. Even as an adult, part of me is still mesmerized by glow stars on the ceiling.
This jar would be great on a night stand or bedside table. The astronaut is a fun addition and the stars glow for hours.
Water bead jars are very easy to make and customize. I hydrated the water beads, and added them little by little to a mason jar, placing the astronaut and stars as I went. Once the jar was full I simply added water to make the water beads disappear and reveal the astronaut and “floating” glow stars.
The astronaut figure is from a Wild Republic outer space toy set. My kids and I love these and Safari Ltd. Toobs for imaginative play and crafts.

“Lift up your eyes on high
Isaiah 40:26
and see who has created these stars,
the One who leads forth their host by number,
He calls them all by name;
because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
not one of them is missing.”
