Seasons and Weather Sensory Bottles

Update: I made this set of Seasons and Weather Sensory Bottles a couple of years ago, and they still look great! I have added some new photos and videos. If you are interested in the sensory bottle lights, check out how I made them here!

I love the seasons. Each one is unique and beautiful, and as a resident of Colorado, I am blessed to be able to experience them all! I’ve heard some people say that Denver only has two seasons: summer and snow. But, it is definitely NOT true! Okay, so I do remember when I was in high school we had a snowstorm in mid September, and snow on Mother’s Day is fairly normal… really, it can snow any time September through May (or June?), but that doesn’t mean we don’t have spring and fall. I digress… anyway, I decided to create a set of sensory bottles that would capture something special about each season.

Spring was first on my list, and I decided to make a Gentle Rain Sensory Bottle. There is a cloud of pom poms at the top, and blue and silver chunky glitter slowly falls down. See how I made it!

Next was my Bright Summer Sky Sensory Bottle. For this one, I used a combination of water beads and cotton balls with a pom pom sun. See how I made it!

My Swirling Autumn Leaves Sensory Bottle was definitely the easiest to make. I found the perfect autumn leaves for it and added a tiny amount of glitter to give it some sparkle. See how I made it!

The last and most challenging sensory bottle was the Softly Falling Snow Sensory Bottle. Since winter is my favorite season, I had high expectations for this one. After a lot of tinkering, I finally got it just right! See how I made it!

Thanks for checking out my Seasons and Weather Sensory Bottles!

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

  1. I love doing sensory bottles for my mobile infants at the Day Care. I usually use gatoraide bottles. What type of bottles did you use?

    1. These are Core Hydration water bottles. I got them at Target. I also like using VOSS water bottles and the bottles that my half-and-half comes in. 🙂

  2. I tried a couple of these and they turned out great!! Thank you for sharing such a great sensory bottled 👍🏼 Your instructions are easy to follow.

    1. Hi Anita! If you would like to know how I made them, just click on “read more” next to the description. Thanks for visiting!

  3. Do you add the ingredients in the order listed and shake or is there some shaking to mix between adding any of the ingredients?

    1. Hi Elayna. I add the ingredients in the order listed and then shake it up. I will usually hold off on gluing the lid shut for at least a day to make sure I like it and don’t need to add/change anything. – Sarah

  4. Hi Sarah, will you be willing to make your lovely “seasons & weather” sensory bottles for purchase? I think you are amazing!! I absolutely love your cheery creativity in making these! I don’t have the time to make these awesome bottles but I’m willing to pay for them… Whatcha think?

    1. Hi Christina! I apologize for the delay in my reply. Life is busy these days!! Are you anywhere near Denver, CO, by chance? The biggest wall I’m facing in making these for sale is shipping costs. If you are local, it would be easier to make and drop off to you.

  6. Hello why the clear glue and corn syrup. I usually use baby oil. Is there a specific reason ?
    Thank you
    Andrea

    1. Hi Andrea! Thanks for the question. I had not heard of using baby oil before, I have always used glue or corn syrup to achieve my desired results. I will have to give baby oil a try! 😉
